Hello, community! Today I want to share a trade in XRPUSDT that taught me a great lesson about how Futures really work on Binance.
Sometimes, seeing numbers in "tomato" or orange next to a countdown timer makes us sweat, but understanding the Funding Rate is the key to not panicking.
What I learned today:
The scenario: I had a Short position with 20x leverage.
The confusion: The panel showed negative percentages in orange near the countdown timer. Were they deducting from me? On the contrary!
The reality: In futures markets, when the rate is positive and you are Short, those who are Long pay you for holding their position!
The result:
Although the price movement gave me an ROI of +0.83% (a very tight close), thanks to that countdown timer and being on the right side of the funding rate, I managed to close positively despite the fees.
Lesson of the day: Don't just go by the colors. Understanding who pays whom in the interest rate exchange can be the difference between closing out of fear or waiting for the right moment to exit with a profit. 🧠📈
