XRP could be stabilizing on the ledger, despite the potentially upcoming volatility on the market. Even though the market has cooled since that rally, the move produced a structural change that, should momentum pick back up, could serve as the basis for a more extensive retrace.

XRP enters consolidation period

At the time, XRP was trading at about $1.39, consolidating close to an upward support trendline that developed following the most recent market drop. The asset is currently being kept from falling further by this support line, indicating that buyers are progressively intervening at lower levels.

The 26-day exponential moving average, which continues to serve as the main obstacle to any sustained recovery, is one of the important resistance levels that XRP is still below.

Because it showed that the market can still generate strong bullish impulses when liquidity appears, the earlier surge of about 30% is significant. That rally created a possible turning point, where buyers might try to take back control of the market, even though it was ultimately followed by fresh selling pressure.

Compression phase next

Technically speaking, XRP is about to enter a compression phase. The falling resistance from moving averages above and the rising trendline below are squeezing the price. These kinds of structures frequently result in large volatility expansions, which suggests that XRP may soon undergo a more robust directional move.

Monitoring network activity is crucial in addition to pure price action. Payment activity and transaction throughput are closely linked to the XRP ecosystem.

Recently, the network's successful transaction volume has stayed comparatively steady, averaging close to two million transactions every day, indicating that the underlying payment infrastructure is still operating at a healthy level.

Payment volume has a direct impact on the XRP ecosystem as a whole. The demand for liquidity within the network usually rises with increased network usage, which strengthens XRP's function as a bridge asset in international transactions.

Cassie Craddock, CEO and Managing Director of Ripple Labs in the United Kingdom, has spotlighted the firm’s latest achievement in the region. As sherevealed on her official X account, these achievements are tied to its regulatory push as a crypto operator.

Ripple secures EMI license

Craddock shared photos of an event at the London Tower Bridge to celebrate the receipt of its EMI Licence and Cryptoasset registration from the U.K.'s FCA.

As she noted, this move will also be complemented by its EU EMI Licence. This, Craddock believes, implies that the bridge between TradFi and DeFi is now officially open. She said that this gap has been bridged and was shown at the Tower Bridge event.

The Ripple executive noted that the era of experimentation is over, and that regulated, institutional-grade production has now been ushered in.

Over the past year, Ripple Labs has made a frantic effort to advance its reach in both the United States, the United Kingdom and the European Union. With product releases and newpartnerships like that with Aviva Investors, the firm has continued to penetrate the traditional financial market.

While the U.K. has no defined laws for crypto like MiCAR in the EU, Ripple Labs considers the region a strategic hub to advance its business interests.

In order to achieve its broader goal, Ripple has been building its infrastructure to take advantage of the new shift in tokenization.

From updates to theXRP Ledger to regular minting of RLUSD stablecoin, it has continued to compete with existing projects in the industry.

In an earlier report by U.Today, Ripple Labs unveiled itspayment services targeted at its traditional banking partners. This service will uniquely integrate XRP, a bridge digital currency it is closely associated with.

In the meantime, the firm and its executives are focused on getting the CLARITY Act passed in the U.S., a move that may further aid its overall payment dominance readiness.

The XRP Ledger lending protocol amendment is currently being voted on. In January, Version 3.1.0 of rippled, the reference server implementation of the XRP Ledger protocol was released, which included single asset vaults and the lending protocol.

However, the voting for the lending protocol appears to be going on steadily, with only 17.14% gained in consensus, according to XRPScan. This is 62.86% away from the required 80% threshold for an amendment to enter an activation phase.

The XRP Ledger amendment system uses the consensus process to approve any changes that affect transaction processing on the XRP Ledger. An amendment must receive more than 80% support for two weeks for it to pass.

In the case of the lending protocol, 62.86% more validator support is required for it to achieve majority.

What comes next?

Alongside the lending protocol amendment, the XLS-65 specification introduces that a single asset vault is now being watched. The single asset vault is slowly gaining support, currently at 22.85% consensus.

A critical bug was recently found in the proposed XRPL Batch amendment, which might explain the seemingly slow voting response for other amendments as they get tested, without being hurried up.

In light of the batch amendment bug, Ripple indicated it was raising the bar for amendment security.

According to J. A. Akinyele, RippleX head of engineering, in the longer term, Ripple is working toward formal verification of high-risk components on the ledger.

This means proving safety properties for critical components, modeling amendment behavior before activation, standardizing verification requirements for consensus-critical code and integrating formal methods into the XRPL SDLC (from XLS specification to code to testing).

The goal is to provide end-to-end assurance that XRPL amendment specifications and code are not only functionally correct but also uphold defined security and safety properties for the ledger.
