The company OpenAI, known for ChatGPT, intends to significantly expand its team. According to the Financial Times (via Engadget), by the end of 2026, the number of employees at the company is expected to nearly double — from the current 4,500 to 8,000 people.

New vacancies are anticipated in the fields of product development, engineering, research, and sales. Separately, the company plans to attract specialists in so-called "technical ambassadorship," who will help businesses use artificial intelligence tools more effectively.

According to FT, OpenAI thus wants to strengthen competition with Anthropic, as its chatbot Claude is currently popular among corporate clients. According to the fintech startup Ramp, companies are 70% more likely to choose Anthropic when making their first purchase of AI services than OpenAI.

However, recently OpenAI has also been losing to Anthropic in the consumer segment. This happened after Sam Altman's company signed a contract with the U.S. Department of Defense for the use of its models, whereas Anthropic refused to cooperate with the agency.
