Walrus is a decentralized storage and data availability network built on the High performance Sui blockchain using Walrus protocol for payments, staking, and governance.
It is designed to enable cost-friendly, scalable storage for large datasets, such as platforms enabling data markets for the AI era, making data across all industries trustworthy, provable, monetizable, and secure.
The $WAL token serves three primary functions within the ecosystem:
1. Payments: Users pay for decentralized storage capacity using WAL.
2. Staking: The network uses a Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) model where holders stake WAL to storage nodes to secure the network and earn rewards.
