The Economist: what are the predictions for 2026?
The special edition of The Economist titled “The World Ahead 2026” is published each year to analyze which trends will dominate the world in the coming year. It features a very symbolic cover that summarizes the most important themes that the editors (clearly the global elite) consider to have the greatest global impact; it is not a random artistic cover, it is like a visual map of the global risks and opportunities that the magazine has “identified”… it does not propose an imminent collapse, but rather something more uncomfortable to inhabit, a functionally unstable world. The focus of the analysis is not on the crisis as an event, but on the accumulation of structural tensions that make the global system increasingly dependent on fragile political decisions, over-leveraged markets, and technologies not yet socially assimilated.
