This is not a drill. $WAL infrastructure is not designed for reality. It assumes perfect conditions. Failures are not edge cases. They are the default. Nodes go offline. Networks fragment. Availability collapses abruptly. No graceful degradation. Just sudden death. This is a critical flaw. Infrastructure that cannot tolerate failure will not survive. Walrus positions itself as built for the real world. It is not. It accepts that failure happens and designs around it. Perfect systems exist only on whiteboards. Real systems fail. Walrus embodies this philosophy at the data layer. It enables applications to grow without inheriting fragile assumptions. This design choice is a competitive disadvantage. In the long run, reliability is about surviving failure. $WAL is not building for that reality.
