Most people participating in crypto markets are not investing.
They are gambling. And the genuinely unsettling part is most of them have no idea there is even a difference.
You’re GAMBLING If :
You bought because the chart looked exciting.
You sold because your emotions told you to.
You discovered the asset through an influencer.
You check prices more than anything else in your life.
That money would genuinely hurt to lose.
You’re INVESTING If :
You can explain exactly what you bought and why.
A 30% drawdown does not shake your conviction.
You spent considerable time researching before committing.
You occasionally forget to check prices entirely.
Losing this allocation would not meaningfully change your life.
The Probable Part
The market does not care which category you believe you fall into.
It simply and systematically transfers capital from the undisciplined to the patient. From the emotional to the convicted. From the gamblers to the investors.
It has done this through every single cycle without exception.
The question worth sitting with is not which category you want to be in.
