After reading and reflecting on the documents from Sign, I do not view the "New Money System" as a monetary revolution, but rather as a rewriting of the operational infrastructure of money. The combination of CBDC (private) and stablecoin (public) demonstrates an effort to reconcile state control and market openness, rather than choosing one side. This addresses many bottlenecks of the current financial system, but at the same time makes me concerned that power may become more concentrated within a single layer of infrastructure. For me, this is not a story about new money, but about how power around money is being reorganized through technology.
