What is Ampleforth Governance Token (FORTH)?

FORTH is the native governance token of the Ampleforth protocol. Launched in April 2021, it was designed to decentralize the management of the ecosystem, transitioning it into a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO).

While its sibling token, AMPL, is an "elastic supply" currency that adjusts its supply daily to maintain purchasing power, FORTH is a standard ERC-20 token with a fixed maximum supply (subject to a small annual inflation rate) used exclusively for decision-making.

Key Functions of FORTH

Protocol Voting: Holders can vote on "Ampleforth Improvement Proposals" (AIPs) that change technical parameters.

Treasury Management: The DAO controls a community treasury, and FORTH holders decide how these funds are allocated to grow the ecosystem.

Delegation: Users who do not wish to vote directly can delegate their voting power to trusted community representatives.

FORTH vs. AMPL: Understanding the Difference

It is common for new investors to confuse the two tokens within the Ampleforth ecosystem. Here is how they differ:

Feature AMPL (Ampleforth) FORTH (Governance Token)

Primary Purpose Adaptive base money / Unit of account Ecosystem governance and voting

Supply Mechanism Elastic: Rebase (daily supply changes) Fixed: Standard supply (2% annual inflation)

Stability Goal Targets the CPI-adjusted 2019 Dollar Value derived from governance utility

Volatility Supply is volatile; Price targets stability Price is volatile (market-driven)

Important Notice: Binance Delisting (April 2026)

If you are looking to trade FORTH on Binance, please be aware of the following critical update regarding its listing status:

Announcement: Binance has officially scheduled the delisting of FORTH as of April 1, 2026.

Critical Timelines:

Futures Trading: All FORTH futures contracts were closed on March 24, 2026.

Spot Trading: Trading for FORTH/USDT and other pairs will cease at 11:00 AM UTC+8 on April 1, 2026.
