In finance, onboarding processes might become smoother if identity and compliance credentials can be reused across institutions.
There’s also an interesting angle in emerging technologies. As systems become more autonomous whether in robotics, IoT, or AI-driven workflows the need for machine-readable, verifiable credentials increases. Humans can tolerate ambiguity and delays in verification; machines cannot. An infrastructure that enables automated verification could become a foundational component in these contexts.
But again, all of this depends on execution. The idea is sound in principle, but principles don’t always survive contact with reality. Integration challenges, resistance from incumbents, and unforeseen edge cases can all slow progress. I’ve learned to treat these kinds of projects as long-term experiments rather than near-term solutions.
If I go back to that warehouse scene, what stands out to me now is not just the delay, but the acceptance of it. Everyone involved had adapted to a system where verification is slow and fragmented. Changing that behavior requires more than technology; it requires a shift in how organizations think about trust and coordination.
This is why I find the project interesting, but not in the way that headlines often frame these things. It’s not about transforming industries overnight. It’s about addressing a specific inefficiency that shows up in many places, often quietly, and seeing whether a different approach to verification can make a measurable difference.
If it works, I don’t think it will be obvious. There won’t be a single moment where everything changes. Instead, the improvements will show up in smaller ways—fewer delays, smoother interactions, less manual checking. The kind of changes that people notice only when they’re gone.
And if it doesn’t work, it will likely fail in familiar ways: not enough adoption, too much complexity, or misaligned incentives. That’s the risk with any infrastructure project that depends on coordination at scale.
For now, I see it as a thoughtful attempt to tackle a problem that is easy to overlook but costly to ignore. Whether it succeeds or not will depend less on the elegance of the idea and more on how well it navigates the messy realities of the systems it’s trying to connect.
