A federal judge in San Francisco has granted Anthropic’s request for a preliminary injunction. According to Foresight News, the ruling follows a lawsuit filed by Anthropic against the Trump administration, contesting the Pentagon’s decision to place the company on a blacklist, as well as former U.S. President Donald Trump’s directive banning federal agencies from using its Claude AI model. Anthropic requested the injunction to pause these measures and avoid further financial and reputational damage while the case proceeds.
Judge Rita Lin issued the decision on Thursday, calling the government’s restrictions “concerning” and indicating they may have been intended to disadvantage the company.
