NIGHT is a privacy project led by Charles Hoskinson and developed by the IOG team, with a personal strategic investment of $200 million announced in February 2026, having already invested over $100 million in support of development, with no external VC involvement.
Early investment: Shima Capital (leading), Binance Ventures, Woodstock Fund and 5 other institutions participated, later diluted by personal investment from Charles, and the control completely returned to the project party.
The project features a clever dual-token design of NIGHT and DUST:
①NIGHT (governance / value token)
Total supply is fixed at 24 billion, 100% pre-mined on Cardano, with no inflation risk; primarily used for network staking, community governance, ecological value capture, and automatic generation of DUST. Institutions/users must hold NIGHT to obtain privacy trading rights.
②DUST (Privacy Fuel Token)
Only used for private transaction payments / smart contract gas fees; gas costs are fixed and predictable, not affected by NIGHT price fluctuations, used and destroyed immediately, with no total supply limit.
Currently collaborating with major giants:
Payment giant Worldpay: Integrating merchant transaction privacy features to meet PCI-DSS compliance requirements;
Google Cloud: Providing node infrastructure and cloud services to accelerate the deployment of privacy DApps;
Payment network MoneyGram, Vodafone, eToro: Joining the alliance node operations to promote the implementation of cross-border payments, communication privacy, and other scenarios;
Binance (launched on March 11, 2026): The world's first trading pair, airdropping 240 million NIGHT to HODLers to build a large community base.
