🚨 UAE Banks Move Beyond SMS OTPs!

Most UAE bank customers are now using in-app security codes instead of traditional one-time passwords (OTPs).

By end of March 2026, all licensed UAE financial institutions (LFIs) will phase out SMS and email OTPs to enhance online transaction security.

The shift comes amid global rise in online fraud, pushing banks to adopt secure, biometric, and risk-based authentication.

Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD) introduced in-app OTPs earlier this year; adoption has been rapid, with all 3D Secure transactions now using the app-based codes.
