The more I watch Web3 mature, the more I think privacy only works at scale when it becomes rational, not absolute. That is why Midnight interests me. Its core bet is privacy infrastructure built around selective disclosure: prove what matters, hide what does not. Midnight pairs zero knowledge with a public $NIGHT token, DUST for shielded execution, and Compact contracts that define rules to be proven rather than exposing all underlying data. That gives compliance a place inside the design, not outside it. The open question is whether developers and institutions will actually adopt this middle path, and whether the system stays usable as complexity grows. I’ll be watching real app activity, repeat usage, and whether selective disclosure becomes a working habit instead of just a clean narrative
