New Cryptocurrency Law in Pakistan — What will happen to Bitcoin now?
For the first time in Pakistan, a formal law has been introduced for Bitcoin, Crypto, and Blockchain.
This law, which will come into effect on March 5, 2026,
is called the Virtual Assets Act 2026-
After this law, now in Pakistan:
Crypto companies will have to obtain licenses, and it will be mandatory to keep consumers' money separate from the company's funds.
Fraud, insider trading, and market manipulation will be crimes.
Suspicious transactions will be reported to the Financial Monitoring Unit.
If anyone conducts crypto business without a license, they can face:
5 years of imprisonment
or
A fine of up to 50 million rupees.
Crypto in Pakistan:
Not an official currency
But now it is falling under the law's jurisdiction.
This means that Pakistan is entering a new era of digital finance.
