My Unpopular Take on Fabric – Vol 21

Fabric feels a lot like a marketplace for robot skills. Instead of robots being limited to the abilities they were built with, they can add new modular capabilities — almost like installing apps on a smartphone.

The protocol lets developers publish skills on the network, while robots can access and use those skills through the system’s built-in economic model.

To me, this changes how we think about robotics.

Rather than building a brand-new machine for every new task, the same robot can simply upgrade itself by adding new functions.

Fabric’s vision seems to be about turning robotics into a shared ecosystem, where capabilities are updated, distributed, and accessed across many machines — not locked inside just one.
