Are you tired of analyzing ten indicators and getting ten different answers? Sometimes, in crypto, the best strategy is the simplest one. Supertrend is exactly that: the traffic light that tells you whether it's time to be bullish or if it's better to stay hidden in the den.
I am #NexusBull and today we talk about the most intuitive indicator on the chart: #Supertrend .
What is Supertrend, in plain language?
Imagine a bodyguard who walks behind the price. As long as the price rises, the bodyguard follows it at a safe distance (the green line). If the price 'trips' and falls below the bodyguard's arm, he instantly transforms into a stern guard who blocks your way (the red line).
Supertrend doesn't only look at price but also at how 'crazy' the market is (volatility). The more agitated the market is, the further the bodyguard stays from the price to avoid being tricked by a false move.
How do we read Spot?
At Spot, we don't need adrenaline every minute. We look for clear trends to enter and stay calm.
Green means Profit: When the line is below the price and is green, we are in 'Buy' territory. It doesn't mean you should buy endlessly, but that the trend is on your side. At Spot, this is our comfort zone.
Red means Alert: When the line goes above the price and turns red, the trend has broken. It's the moment when I, as a trader, take my profit and step back. I don't try to catch the falling knife as long as Supertrend is red.
The 'Switch' signal: The magic moment is when the color changes. If we've had a long period of red and suddenly 'buy' appears and the line turns green, it's a sign that the market has come to life.
The Supertrend Trap (Big Warning!)
Like any simple thing, it has a weakness. Supertrend works excellently when the market is clearly moving in one direction (up or down). But when the price is moving 'sideways' (crab market), this indicator goes haywire. It will give you green-red-green signals every few hours and make you pay commissions for nothing.
NexusBull's advice: Don't use Supertrend alone. If it says 'Green', but the RSI is already at 90 (overbought), you might enter just before a crash. Use it as a final confirmation: if your strategy also says buy, and Supertrend is green, then you have the 'green light' for profit.
My conclusion? Supertrend is the best friend of those who want to avoid stress. It helps you not to sell too quickly when the price rises and takes you out of the market before the disaster is total.
