U.S. Central Command officials have told American media that a U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet was likely shot down yesterday by Iranian air defense systems in southwestern Iran. The two pilots were able to eject safely over Iranian territory. Shortly afterward, a U.S. evacuation team reportedly entered the area and successfully recovered the pilots during a rapid extraction mission.
