🌀 Surprise inflation in the US (PPI)
The index rose 0.9% in July — well above expectations — pulling the annual index to 3.3%, the highest point in three years. This dashed expectations for interest rate cuts in September and brought a dose of nervousness to the global market.
🔋 Crypto down, but with robust inflows
Bitcoin fell about 2%, now close to $119,000, amid leveraged liquidations that exceeded $1 billion.
The total value of the crypto market fell by about $133 billion, standing at around $4 trillion.
