FTX CEO SBF is interviewed in prison,

After watching his views on cryptocurrency,

I feel more confident about the future after watching it.

Question: What do you think about the future of cryptocurrency?

SBF: Cryptocurrency has not yet become a daily tool, but the technology is advancing. Currently, about 5% of global cryptocurrency transactions occur in the United States, mainly due to regulatory restrictions. If the industry continues to make progress, in 5 to 10 years, cryptocurrency may become a widely used tool globally, providing privacy, security, fast and cheap international transactions. The cryptocurrency space has been distracted by many meaningless tokens, hindering the development of its practical applications.

Question: Do you think there is a lot of fraud/unethical behavior in the cryptocurrency industry?

SBF: Ten years ago, a considerable proportion of transactions in the cryptocurrency industry involved illegal activities (such as the dark web market Silk Road). With the expansion of the industry and the strengthening of government anti-money laundering measures, the proportion of illegal transactions has significantly decreased. Although there are still some unethical behaviors, the industry as a whole has become more regulated.

Question: The original goal of cryptocurrency was to restore personal business freedom and privacy, but now it seems more like an asset scam. What do you think?

SBF: The technology of cryptocurrency is still developing and has not matured enough to become a daily tool. The practical applications of cryptocurrency are overshadowed by many meaningless tokens and investment hype, and the promises of privacy and freedom have not been realized. If technology continues to advance, cryptocurrency may achieve its original goals.

One interesting snippet about life in prison

SBF: Everything is greatly scaled down in prison; you see people fighting over a banana. Not because you care so much about it, but because what else is there to care about?
