Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting today to review food supplies to Gulf countries and Pakistan’s port & maritime operations, in view of the current regional situation.
He expressed satisfaction with the strategy prepared so far and praised the relevant departments for their progress. The PM stressed that Pakistan must stay in close contact with Gulf nations to support their food security, especially as global supply chains are disrupted.
He directed officials to speed up exports of surplus food items to the Gulf without affecting Pakistan’s own needs. He also ordered a plan to increase flight operations from Karachi, Gwadar, and other airports, and improve efficiency at ports.

• A special committee has approved 40 food items for export, including rice, cooking oil, sugar, meat, poultry, powdered milk, dairy products, fruits, and vegetables.
