Jensen Huang Declares A New Industrial Revolution Has Started': Sees 100x To 1000x Compute Demand Surge - $3-$4 Trillion ‘Opportunity' For Nvidia
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang used the company's second-quarter earnings call to outline a bold vision for artificial intelligence. He described AI as the start of a "new industrial revolution" that will reshape the global economy and drive unprecedented demand for computing power.
Huang said new AI systems, including reasoning and agentic models, require 100 to 1000 times more compute than earlier chatbots. Unlike simple prompt-and-answer systems, these models now plan, research, and act, creating a surge in infrastructure needs.
He projected a $3 to $4 trillion opportunity over the next five years as Nvidia scales with its Blackwell and Rubin platforms.
The world's largest hyperscalers have already doubled annual capital spending to $600 billion, and Nvidia holds about 35 percent of AI factory share.
Huang also pushed back on competitive threats from custom AI chips. He argued that GPUs will remain central, supported by Nvidia's dominance across hardware, software, and networking. He called Nvidia a "full-stack solution" for the AI era.
The company reported revenue of $46.74 billion, up 56 percent year-over-year, and earnings of $1.05 per share, beating expectations. Despite strong results, shares slipped slightly, reflecting high expectations already priced into the stock.
