Without money and not knowing whom to turn to, I had to appeal to the only thing I had left: the small emerald my father had given me years ago. It wasn't big, and I didn't even know if it was pure, but for me, it had always represented a memory, a bond with him.
That night, life put me at a crossroads: sleep outdoors amid the chaos of a terminal or give up my only valuable possession to get a bed.
