Solidity 0.8.30–0.8.31 now targets newer Ethereum forks.

You get access to new EVM features (like CLZ opcode and secp256r1 precompile), but gas rules changed.

⚠️ Calldata became more expensive after Pectra and the compiler won’t save you.

If you deploy large contracts or pass big inputs, you need to rethink gas manually.
