🚀 $AAVE V4 Officially Launched: A New Era of Hub-and-Spoke in DeFi
The largest lending protocol $AAVE has taken a fundamental leap forward by launching its fourth version (V4) on the Ethereum mainnet. This is not just a cosmetic update, but a complete architectural overhaul that prepares the platform for the arrival of big money from Wall Street.
🏗 What is a Hub-and-Spoke architecture?
Instead of a single liquidity pool, V4 introduces a system of “nodes and spokes”:
• Hubs: Centralized sources of liquidity (there are three at launch: Prime — low risk, Core — balanced, Plus — high yield).
• Spokes: Individual markets or use cases (e.g. for Lido, EtherFi, Ethena) that receive credit lines from hubs.
Why is this important?
1. Risk Isolation: Problems in one “spoke” will not bring down the entire protocol, as exposure is limited by the credit line limit.
2. Flexibility: It is now easier to launch specific markets: structured lending, fixed rates or tokenized real assets (RWA).
3. Efficiency: The reinvestment module automatically directs unused liquidity into safe strategies so that capital does not “stand idle”.
🛡 Security and the future
• Zero hacks: Aave remains the only major protocol that has never been hacked since the launch of V1. V4 has been tested for over a year (including Certora).
• Aave Pro: Along with the launch, a new interface for professional DeFi users is introduced.
• RWA and NFT: V4 will support NFT and data-backed lending, blurring the lines between crypto and the real economy.
📉 What’s next?
The launch is currently in “training wheels” mode under the DAO’s control. However, Kulechev’s goal is ambitious — to turn Aave Labs into a DAO subsidiary, reduce bureaucracy, and make the protocol a major liquidity channel for institutions, businesses, and consumers.
