Then one agent stalled. Attempted something. Rolled it back. Waited a few seconds. Tried again.

That pause stuck with me longer than the action itself.

Most conversations around robotics eventually drift back to intelligence better models, faster loops, machines reasoning more independently. Useful progress, obviously. But watching several agents share the same operational space starts revealing a different pressure point. Not thinking. Remembering what already happened.

In Fabric’s ROBO environment the action doesn’t stay inside a private system log. It gets written somewhere shared. A ledger. Timestamped entries, verification attached, visible across the network. A common operational record machines can check before acting again.

The behavior shifts a little once that shared record exists. Agents slow down. They check the log. Sometimes they wait.

There’s friction there. Logging actions into a distributed record adds delay, and distributed systems rarely stay predictable once scale shows up.

Things usually start changing once the agent count stops being small. That’s the part I’m still watching.
